WHY YOUR BABY IS WAKING EVERY HOUR (AND WHAT ACTUALLY FIXES IT)

If your baby is waking every hour, you are not alone. Most parents assume something is wrong; teething, hunger, sleep regression, but in many cases, the issue is much simpler:
your baby doesn’t yet know how to stay asleep.
What’s really going on
Around 4 months, your baby’s sleep changes into more adult-like sleep cycles. This means they naturally wake more often between cycles.
If they rely on:
feeding
rocking
being held
…they will need that same support every time they wake.
That’s why you can end up in a cycle of:
asleep → wake → need help → asleep → repeat all night
The other BIG issue: schedule
This is the part most people miss.
If your baby:
naps too much
has the wrong sleep schedule
doesn't have adequate sleep pressure
…they won’t be able to stay asleep at night.
What actually fixes it
1. Teaching your baby to fall asleep independently
Yes, this can involve tears.
But you are not leaving your baby.
You are:
right there
supporting them
helping them learn a new skill
2. Getting the schedule right
This is where real change happens.
Because if your baby isn’t tired enough: no amount of “sleep training” will fix night waking
3. Consistency
Sleep improves when your baby knows: what’s expected and what happens next
The truth most people don’t say
Waking every hour is not something your baby just “grows out of”. It usually continues until
sleep habits change or the schedule is corrected.
If you're exhausted right now, you don't have to guess. I work with families to analyse your baby's sleep over 7-10 days, calculate their actual sleep needs and build a plan that works for your child
